Tottenham squad numbers for the 2020/21 season confirmed after transfer deadline day

Tottenham Hotspur's squad numbers for the 2020/21 season have been confirmed.

And plenty has changed since the previous campaign concluded.

Spurs were very busy in the summer transfer window, as head coach Jose Mourinho was able to bolster his squad in several key areas with as many as six new signings.

Man United 1-6 Spurs: Jose Mourinho press conference

Matt Doherty was given the no.2 shirt following his move from Wolves, while Sergio Reguilon has taken the no.3 shirt which means Danny Rose doesn't have a squad number despite still being at the club.

With the no.23 taken, new central midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has taken the no.5 shirt which became vacant following Jan Vertonghen's exit and subsequent free transfer to Benfica.

Gareth Bale has returned to north London only to find his favoured no.11 shirt was unavailable, so has taken the no.9 shirt which has been worn by the likes of Vincent Janssen and Roberto Soldado in the past.

Spurs fans will be hopeful that the Welshman restores some pride to the famous shirt number.

Meanwhile, Joe Hart has taken no.12 after signing on a free transfer and loan signing Carlos Vinicius has one of the highest numbers across the entire squad - no.45.

There has also been a squad number upgrade for youngster Japhet Tanganga as he's swapped no.39 for no.25 to perhaps reflect his importance in the first-team squad this season.

No.14 is one of many shirt numbers that are now free for potential signings when the transfer window reopens in January.

Ryan Sessegnon, Juan Foyth, and Oliver Skipp have temporarily vacated no.19, no.21, and no.29 respectively after sealing loan deals to Hoffenheim, Villarreal, and Norwich City respectively.

Although, they should get those back upon returning next summer.
