Tottenham signing Giovani Lo Celso thanks Betis and suggests loan move to Spurs is anything but temporary

New Tottenham signing Giovani Lo Celso has thanked former club Real Betis after completing his transfer to Spurs and says moving to north London is 'an important step' in his career.

The Argentina midfielder arrives initially on loan, although Tottenham have an option to make the move permanent next summer and the transfer should be completed in 2020.

After the deal was announced on Thursday, Lo Celso took to Instagram to thank his former club, saying he had 'mixed feelings' about leaving but also 'joy' as he prepares for a new experience in the Premier League.

"It's time to close a very important chapter in my career and it’s left for me to say goodbye in this way, with gratitude," he wrote. "I take the best memories and leave behind great moments in which I have felt the affection of you all.

"It is difficult to express myself because I have mixed feelings, joy on the one hand because this is a very important step in my career, and sadness on the other because I am leaving a place that has made me feel at home from the first moment.

#MushoBetis 💚 siempre!!!
