Tottenham shut down Mauricio Pochettino to Man Utd questions in heated press conference exchange

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was blocked from answering questions on his future and the vacancy at Manchester United at a press conference on Thursday.

The Spurs boss is the first choice at Old Trafford after United appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to replace sacked Jose Mourinho until the end of the season.

Pochettino addressed questions on the rumours ahead of Tottenham’s game with Arsenal in midweek, and, following a question from a Sky Sports reporter, the club’s press officer stated that they would not have another press conference “dominated by Man United talk”.

Responding to the questions earlier in the week, Pochettino said: "After nearly five years there’s a lot of rumours that happen in my position here as a manager at Tottenham and I cannot answer this type of question because this type of rumours happens in this business, in football.

"I always respect a lot the opinion of everyone -- when the people praise me, when they don’t agree with me, when they say different things. We know a lot of rumours happen. But it’s not my business what happens in another club now.”

The top priority for the Argentine now will by Spurs’ trip to Everton on Sunday before a hectic January after reaching the League Cup semi-finals with a win over Arsenal.
