Tottenham will no longer have to pay Mauricio Pochettino's wages if he takes the Paris Saint-Germain job.
Pochettino is the frontrunner to become PSG boss after Thomas Tuchel was dismissed on Christmas Eve following a controversial interview.
The Argentine has been out of work for over a year after he was sacked by Spurs last November following a disappointing start to the season.
But the north London club has continued to pay Pochettino's £8.5million-per-year salary due to a payroll clause inserted in the lucrative contract he signed in 2018 - which intended to keep him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until 2023.
That's according to Football Insider , and means Spurs will no longer be obliged to pay Pochettino's wages if he puts pen to paper to become the new PSG manager.
Tottenham will also offload the 48-year-old's coaching staff - Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino and Toni Jimenez - from their wage bill.
Pochettino is expected to be unveiled at Parc des Princes, with only the final contract details yet to be resolved.
He played for the French club for two seasons and captained them during the 2002/03 campaign.
"I have always said that one day it would be a pleasure to manage a big club like Paris, a dream," Pochettino said recently.
"I try to watch all of their games, especially in the Champions League and sometimes I speak with [Paris Saint-Germain assistant coach] Jean-Louis Gasset."
PSG won the domestic treble under Tuchel last season but find themselves third in Ligue 1, trailing Lyon and Lille by one point.
The German led the club to a 4-0 over Strasbourg on Wednesday, but he was ushered to the exit less than 24 hours later after saying he felt more like "a sports politician or sports minister than a coach".
