Tottenham set to receive almost £4m saving ahead of transfer window as Spurs target new faces

The countdown to the start of the January transfer window is officially on.

There is now just a month to go until the window opens for business and Premier League clubs will be set free off the leash to try and bolster their respective squads ahead of the second half of the season.

Whilst, for many clubs, the January transfer window can be a difficult window to navigate, as prices of players are often increased due to the time of year and high-demand for a certain type of player mid-season, sometimes clubs have to bite the bullet and loosen the purse strings in a bid to save their season.

Although some clubs may have no choice but to part with some money next month, Tottenham Hotspur may not feel the need to loosen the purse strings once again after a highly successful summer window.

In total, Spurs, who return to Europa League action on Thursday evening when they travel to Austria to face LASK, drafted in seven new faces during the summer, including the return of Gareth Bale on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid.

Though the Premier League season is only 10 games old, things could not be going much better for Jose Mourinho's side right now as they sit at the top of the table, albeit on goal-difference ahead of Liverpool.

With that in mind, it is highly unlikely that the north London outfit will throw hell to the wind in January in an effort to make significant improvements to the squad.

But after being closely linked with Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar during the summer, they could rekindle their interest in the defender, even though Inter are likely to command a huge fee for the 25-year-old.

According to reports in the national media, Spurs are not refusing to give up hope of signing him, although he would cost around £40million.

Though it is unlikely that Spurs have any players within their squad that they would like to sell to be able to raise funds for a move for Skriniar, they do have two players out-of-contract next summer who could help the club recoup almost £4million in annual wages, according to data provided by Sportsrac.

Both centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers and left-back Danny Rose are out-of-contract at the end of this season and, you would say, it is unlikely that either player will see their current deals extended.

Should they leave the club next summer, Spurs would recoup £3.96m in yearly wages, meaning that figure could go a long way to funding Skriniar's wages or any other potential new additions.

Rose is currently out of the frame at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Carter-Vickers is currently out on loan at AFC Bournemouth.
