Tottenham set to push on with £40m Adama Traore transfer as major contract decision is made

Tottenham are interested in signing Adama Traore from Wolves before the transfer window slams shut next week.

Spurs, who have kicked off their Premier League campaign with back-to-back 1-0 wins against Manchester City and Wolves, are trying to bolster their forward options for the remainder of the season and have identified Traore as the man to add another dimension in attack.

The 25-year-old, who has under two years remaining on his contract at Molineux, is reportedly keen on making the move to the north London club and reuniting with former boss Nuno Espirito Santo after around three years together in the Midlands.

Now, Tottenham's pursuit of Traore may be set to intensity after reported target Noni Madueke put pen-to-paper on a contract extension with PSV Eindhoven.

The 19-year-old, who was part of Spurs' academy system, left the north Londoners in July 2018 to join the Dutch club, but has recently been linked with a return to N17.

That will not be happening this summer, though, with Madueke clearly happy at the Phillips Stadion.

With Spurs' reported target now unavailable, this could see Fabio Paratici push through with the proposed Traore transfer.

Wolves are said to be willing to let the former Barcelona winger leave Molineux this summer, with Tottenham preferring an initial loan with a view to a £40million deal next summer.

When asked about signing Traore on Wednesday in a press conference, Spurs boss Espirito Santo stayed very coy on the matter - refusing to give too much away on what is going on behind the scenes.

"You know me already, I don't speak about any situation or rumour," Espirito Santo replied when asked if Spurs would sign Traore before the end of the transfer window.

"Mainly because I only speak about Spurs players."
