Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Friday, August 7.
Classic Levy move ensures Hojbjerg bargain
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg looks set to complete his move from Southampton to Tottenham soon, and Jose Mourinho looks to be bagging somewhat of a bargain.
Spurs have met the Saints’ valuation of the Denmark international, and all that’s left is to iron out the formalities over the coming days.
Meanwhile, Kyle Walker-Peters looks set to move in the opposite direction, having spent the second half of the season on loan on the south coast.
And thanks to Daniel Levy’s appreciation of the young right-back, Spurs will be able to recoup much of the fee spent on Hojbjerg, meaning the midfielder could cost as little as £3million.
Ndombele set to test Levy and Mourinho relationship
Tanguy Ndombele’s future has been a big talking point, given how the midfielder appears to have fallen out of favour with Mourinho.
And the Frenchman could provide the first real test in the relationship between the Spurs boss and Levy.
So far, all has been well behind the scenes for Mourinho, and all the noise coming out of the club has been of a man settled and getting on well with everyone.
But, given the efforts the club went to in securing Ndombele last year, including handing him a six-year deal, his handling of the player might well prove a strain.

New rules in place for Premier League
The Premier League have announced some key rule changes ahead of the 2020/21 season, which is set to get underway in just over a month.
After the previous campaign was heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, Premier League bosses have acted quickly to implement changes following the league’s Annual General Meeting.
One of the key changes proposed for the new season was the continuation of the five substitutes rule, although that looks to have been shot down.
But there have still been some big changes made, notably to the use of VAR and what TV viewers will see next season.
