Tottenham set to break transfer record again to land £70million Giovani Lo Celso

Spurs are set to smash their transfer record for a second time this summer as they finally step up their interest in £70million-rated midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

The 23-year-old Real Betis midfielder wants to move to north London and has indicated as much to his club.

Lo Celso is keen to work with fellow Argentine Mauricio Pochettino and to play Champions League football at Tottenham .

Betis have signed his replacement already, moving to agree a five-year deal for £22million Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir.

Pochettino has been desperate to land Lo Celso after shattering Tottenham’s transfer record to sign Tanguy Ndombele for £65million.

Ndombele, 22, will wear the no.28 shirt next season.

Spurs have allowed Arsenal to beat them to the loan signing of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos as the player has no intention of committing himself to a permanent deal anywhere other than the Bernabeu.

Spurs had no intention of being used as a platform for Ceballos to force his way back into the Madrid side.

The north Londoners are instead set to step up their interest in Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

Tottenham allowed Kieran Trippier to complete his £21.7million move to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, and the England international says he's living the deal now he's playing abroad.

Trippier trained at Atletico on Wednesday (@Laliga /Twitter)

"This is an amazing feeling - I’ve always wanted to play abroad and what a place to play, in Madrid," he said.

“They have a fantastic team and an unbelievable manager and I’m just looking forward to getting on with it now and meeting the team.

“We know they’ve been to some major finals, they’ve done so well in La Liga over the years - they have a quality team and a magnificent coach.”
