Tottenham have been sent a reassuring transfer message over summer signing Sergio Reguilon.
Reguilon joined Tottenham for around £28million from Real Madrid but there is growing concern over the fact the Spanish giants hold a buy-back clause in the full-back's contract.
As revealed by football.london, Real have the option of re-signing Reguilon either this summer or next summer for around £43million, and given the defender has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, the buy-back clause gets all the more worrying for Spurs fans.
Reports from Spain claiming Reguilon would be open to a return to the Spanish capital certainly haven't helped, but there has been a reassuring update.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed the decision by Real Madrid on whether to bring Reguilon back is totally up to the player himself.
“There are still people who say Real Madrid will buy Reguilon next summer," Romano said on the Here We Go podcast.
“Finally, the decision is up to the player and he is totally focused on Tottenham. He is so happy with the Tottenham atmosphere. Don’t worry Tottenham fans.”
That will be music to the ears of Tottenham fans with Reguilon enjoying a good start to life in the Premier League, already racking up 15 appearances across all competitions.
The Spaniard has looked comfortable in what has been, for the most part, a very organised Spurs back-line so far this term with Jose Mourinho's men only conceding 14 goals in as many Premier League games.
Tottenham have endured a slip-up of late, sliding to sixth in the table, but Reguilon has still managed to maintain decent form, racking up an average WhoScored rating of 6.78 from his Premier League outings.
