Tottenham sends Ryan Mason potential goodbye message amid Paulo Fonseca links

Tottenham have thanked interim coach Ryan Mason on social media in what looks to be a potential goodbye message.

Spurs endured a difficult campaign, finishing seventh in the Premier League and faltering in the cup competitions as well.

The North London side were knocked out of the Europa League in the last 16 by Dinamo Zagreb after winning the first-leg 2-0, a result that contributed towards Jose Mourinho's sacking in April.

The Portuguese coach was eventually replaced by Ryan Mason on an interim basis, a decision that appeared bizarre given it was the week Spurs faced Manchester City in the EFL Cup final, a match they eventually lost 1-0 thanks to an 82nd-minute header courtesy of Aymeric Laporte.

Fast forward almost two months and Tottenham are still yet to appoint a permanent manager.

However, the club's links to former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca have been intensifying on social media in recent days and Spurs' recent Twitter post may be a major hint that Mason's time in North London is coming to an end.

"Spurs player, Spurs head coach, Spurs legend ", the tweet read.

"Thank you for everything, Ryan Mason!"

The message appeared to be a goodbye to the 30-year-old, who is reportedly still staying with the club in a new setup under Fonseca, according to Duncan Castles.

The journalist was speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, where he claimed that Mason will stay with the club in a new setup under Fonseca.

It has also been reported that former Spurs captain Ledley King will be one of the soon-to-be Tottenham manager's assistants after spending time under Mourinho.
