Gary Neville believes Tottenham have sent a warning to Chelsea after their win over Aston Villa.
Jose Mourinho's men defeated Villa on Sunday thanks to goals from Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane, bouncing swiftly back from Thursday's Europa League collapse against Dinamo Zagreb.
Spurs are now back within three points of Chelsea in fourth place as we head into the international break, and Sky Sports pundit Nevile believes that the win over Villa will send a warning to Thomas Tuchel's men at just the right time.
“It was absolutely crucial. I think it determines the last couple of months of the season, I think it was that big a game today for Spurs," he said on his podcast.
"Going into that sixth-place, a point behind West Ham, three behind Chelsea, gives Jose Mourinho the feeling that he might still do something really good in the league this season.
"If they hadn’t have won here tonight, then they’d have obviously been too far away. Just looking at the bench there, with Joe Hart, Bale, Sissoko, Dier, Dele Alli, Bergwijn, Ben Davies."
Speaking about the strength and experience Tottenham have, Neville added: "I know Jose Mourinho mentioned two 16-year-olds before the game, but the amount of experience, quality and depth, and that’s without other players who aren’t even in the squad.
"They should be challenging for fourth-place, they really should. I think that Chelsea will feel a little bit of heat if Spurs get near them and I think they’ve got the type of players that could finish the season really well.
"I did like Vinicius and Kane tonight, I think those two played well together, I wasn’t sure if they would.”
