Tottenham season predicted with close European tussle and disappointing finish

Tottenham have an 11% chance of finishing fourth this season, according to analytics website FiveThirtyEight.

Spurs are in search of a top four finish under new boss Antonio Conte, with the Lilywhites just a few points off of their rivals for a European place and with two games in hand.

Conte has taken ten points from his first four games in the Premier League so far, only dropping points to Everton in a 0-0 draw before going on to beat Leeds, Brentford and Norwich.

The two games in hand have come from postponements to the Burnley game due to weather and the Brighton game due to a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

As things stand, their next game in the league will be a trip to Leicester on Thursday, with the Foxes just behind Spurs by a single place and three points.

Tottenham fans will be hoping their upward trajectory under the Italian coach can continue as the race heats up for a Champions League spot.

However, data analysts FiveThirtyEight have predicted that it will be a disappointing finish come May.

The prediction has Tottenham finishing in seventh, where they also finished last season, earning a Europa Conference League position.

The league table has the club finishing on 57 points, two behind north London rivals Arsenal in sixth.

Manchester United finish fifth on 61 points, whilst West Ham are backed to finish fourth and in the all important Champions League spot with 62 points.

The finish may sum up a disappointing season for Spurs, failing to gain more points or progress on the season before.

However, it would only represent a starting point for Conte in his first season at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
