Tottenham’s trip to Everton causes pundits to disagree on outcome of Goodison Park game

Tottenham are on their travels today as Antonio Conte takes his side to Everton in his first Premier League outing at the club.

The trip will also be Spurs ’ final league game before the international break, giving the new Italian coach some time to work his magic on the training ground.

The Lilywhites are on the back of a 3-2 victory over Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League, where they raced into a three-goal lead before the visitors pegged them back just before half-time.

The second half saw three red cards, with Tottenham’s Cristian Romero receiving his marching orders before the away side received two late reds of their own.

In the league, Spurs will be hoping to bounce back well from a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United, one that proved to be Nuno Espirito Santo’s last at the helm. They now sit 10th and could be leapfrogged by Everton with defeat.

The hosts have endured some tough form of their own, without a win in four and losing all three of their last three matches. A disappointing 2-1 defeat to Wolves last time out will give Rafa Benitez’s side all the drive to return to winning ways.

Ahead of the game, several football pundits had their say, with most going for a Tottenham win, but there was some disagreement there too.

Mark Lawrenson of the BBC has predicted a 2-1 win for Spurs on their travels, stating that the Toffees lack of Dominic Calvert-Lewin means they will struggle, while their defensive side has taken a hit in recent weeks.

He believes Spurs will just about come out on top.

Sky Sports betting expert Jones Knows has also gone for a 2-1 win to Conte’s men. He believes that the match is a kind opening league fixture for the new head coach and that they should win the tie.

However, pundit Paul Merson disagrees with both of those predictions. Speaking to SportsKeeda, he went for a 1-1 draw in the match.

He believes that Everton cannot repeat the same poor performances from previous weeks and that they will give Spurs a tough game.
