Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon withdraws from England Under-21 squad in latest injury setback

Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon has withdraw from the England Under-21 squad for Tuesday’s match against Kosovo after suffering "a knock" in training.

The left-sided player has return to Spurs for further assessment, with his side facing a London derby at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The injury is the latest in a string of frustrating blows for Sessegnon, who missed the majority of pre-season under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo with a hamstring problem.

The 21-year-old started both legs of the Europa Conference League play-off win over Pacos de Ferreira and was an unused substitute in the League games against Wolves and Watford.

New England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley will also be without Liverpool's Harvey Elliott, who reported for international duty with an injury sustained during his side’s draw against Chelsea.

After being assessed, it was decided that the 18 year old was unlikely to play any part in the game in Milton Keynes so has returned to Liverpool.

Aston Villa midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who was initially part of the Under-19 squad, has now joined Carsley’s group as they prepare for the Under-21 European Championship qualifier at Stadium MK.
