Nacer Chadli has been ruled out for six weeks after Tottenham confirmed that the Belgium midfielder suffered ankle ligament damage during the goalless draw with Liverpool on Saturday.
Chadli, who has made 11 appearances for Tottenham this season but has managed just one goal, was forced off during the first half at White Hart Lane and will be out of action until December.
“Further assessment and investigation has confirmed that Nacer Chadli suffered ankle ligament damage during our draw against Liverpool,” read a club statement. “Our medical staff will continue to monitor his progress during his rehabilitation to determine when he will be ready to return to training.”
Chadli’s absence is a blow for Mauricio Pochettino who was is expected to be without the South Korea international Son Heung-min until November while Alex Pritchard is also a long-term absentee after undergoing surgery on his right ankle.
