Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko convinced they can give Ajax THEIR marching orders

Moussa Sissoko has urged his Tottenham team-mates to forget their red card debacle at Bournemouth — and focus on one of the biggest matches in club history.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men go into their Champions League semi-final second leg away to Ajax on Wednesday trailing the Dutch side 1-0 at 'half-time'.

Whatever happens in that match and in next Sunday's final game of the season at home to Everton, they are now almost assured of a top-four finish and a seat at the Champions League table again in 2019-20 after Manchester United lost and Arsenal only drew on Sunday because of their superior goal difference.

Spurs disastrously had Son Heung-min and Juan Foyth sent off in five mad minutes either side of half-time, then saw their nine remaining men concede an agonising last-minute winner on Saturday as the Cherries inflicted a third defeat in four Premier League outings.

Victory on the south coast would have secured the Londoners, who have won just three of their last 11 games in the top flight amid their European heroics, a Champions League place with a game to spare.

Resurgent midfielder Sissoko said: “This week will be the biggest of the season for us, because if we beat Ajax we can be in the final of the Champions League and that would be something amazing."

It's certainly amazing that Spurs are only 90 minutes from the June 1 final against Barcelona or Liverpool in Madrid after they lost their first two group games and had one point at the midway point of the group phase.

Tottenham are three points ahead of bitter north London rivals Arsenal, who go to Burnley for their final game, in pursuit of Champions League qualification — Sunday's results mean Chelsea will finish in the top four — and their goal difference is eight better.

“At the beginning of the Champions League, no one expected us to be in that position. So if we win and go the final it will be a dream for everyone," said Sissoko. “We have to believe in ourselves, because we can do it.

"If you are in the semi-finals of the Champions League and the next season you are not in the Champions League, it will be a bit painful, but I don’t think about that.”
