Tottenham's Kieran Trippier targets Premier League stay amid Napoli links

Kieran Trippier says he wants to stay in the Premier League but admits he does not know if he will be a Tottenham player next season.

Spurs are prepared to offload the England right-back as part of a significant rebuild following the Champions League Final defeat to Liverpool and Serie A runners-up Napoli have offered around £23million for the 28-year-old.

Trippier, who has endured a difficult, injury-plagued campaign since starring in England’s run to the World Cup semi-finals last summer, says he will discuss his future with manager Mauricio Pochettino in pre-season.

“I want to stay in England, but what can you do?” said Trippier, a £4m signing from Burnley in 2015. “I’ll see what happens, and what the club wants, most importantly.

"I give everything for this club in training sessions, games. I don’t know [if I will be at Spurs next season]. I’ll go home now, spend time with my family and just recover after a long, difficult season.

“Everybody’s got a decision to make. Obviously, this club has been very good for me over the last few years, but I’ll enjoy my summer, come back in pre-season and that’s when I’ll sit down with the manager and have a talk about my future. I see a lot of speculation about me not being here.”

Trippier is thought to be keen to stay in the Premier League amid concerns over his England place after he was dropped from Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad for this week’s Nations League finals.
