Tottenham's Jesse Lingard transfer move amid Newcastle's 'interest' in Steven Bergwijn

Tottenham have reportedly made contact with Manchester United over a move for former Newcastle United transfer target Jesse Lingard.

The England international was strongly linked with a loan move to St James' Park in the last January window before enjoying a successful spell with West Ham.

Lingard remained with the Red Devils this summer, but has been used sparingly to date by both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his interim successor Ralf Rangnick.

Now, football.london report Antonio Conte's side have 'made contact' with the 29-year-old over the prospect of either a January and a summer move.

Lingard's contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer, and he has repeatedly been linked with a return to West Ham in recent months.

Tottenham's move comes after rejecting an opening £15m offer from Ajax for Netherlands international winger Steven Bergwijn.

The former PSV Eindhoven attacker arrived in a £27m deal two years ago, and still has more than three years to run on his contract.

Newcastle are said to be 'interested' in the 24-year-old, who has registered five goals and 10 assists in 64 appearances for Tottenham.

The Magpies have been 'alerted' to Bergwijn's availability according to 90min, and the winger's representatives are said to be considering loan options in the January window.
