Tottenham's injury boost ahead of Arsenal as William Gallas makes bold Premier League prediction

Here is the Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Sunday, December 6.

Alderweireld returns to training ahead of Arsenal clash

Defender Toby Alderweireld was spotted training with the rest of his Spurs teammates on Friday, potentially handing Jose Mourinho a major boost ahead of Sunday afternoon's North London derby.

The 31-year-old had been struggling with a muscular injury since last month's victory over Manchester City but could be set to return to the matchday squad after he was rested for the midweek trip to LASK.

Mourinho revealed before Thursday's match that he expects Alderweireld to be available to face Arsenal.

"Yes, he has a chance, not for tomorrow [against LASK], he’s not even an option, he’s not ready, but in his process of recovery, he’s doing very well and there is a chance that he plays," he said.

Gallas says Spurs can win title if three players stay fit

Former Spurs and Arsenal defender William Gallas has backed his former side to lift the Premier League title at the end of the season if Harry Kane, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Hugo Lloris can avoid injury.

Kane's impressive form has played a huge part in the club's strong start to the season, while Hojbjerg has established himself as a key player since arriving from Southampton over the summer.

Lloris has long been regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the business and will need to remain fit and available for selection if Spurs want to win the league, according to Gallas. He wrote on Instagram: "For my part Tottenham will be champion this season if their key players (Harry Kane, Hojbjerg, Lloris) don’t get injured."

BBC pundits divided over derby predictions

Former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas and ex-England goalkeeper Robert Green clashed in their opinions regarding the outcome of Sunday's crunch clash with Arsenal.

Jenas has backed his former club to claim a narrow victory, while Green believes the visitors will get the job done despite having won just four matches in the Premier League all season.

Jenas told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport: "It will be cagey and I think Jose will just get the job done as he has done in the last couple of weeks."

Green then gave his own prediction: "I'm going to go for an away win!"
