Tottenham's Harry Kane makes huge claim ahead of Champions League final with Liverpool

Harry Kane has claimed he’s fit to start the Champions League final against Liverpool.

The Tottenham striker, who has been sidelined since April 9 with an ankle injury, started full training again this week and says he’ll be ready for Saturday’s game.

Should Kane return it will pose a selection dilemma for manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has seen the likes of Heung-Son Min and Lucas Moura perform well in the absence of the English forward.

According to the Daily Mail, Kane said: “If the final was today I would be fit to play.

“I feel good. I started to feel my way back with the team at the end of last week. There have been no problems so far. For me this week now is to get the fitness as high as possible. Then it’s down to the manager. Like I said, I feel good. The manager will assess it and decide whether I’m ready to go or not. But so far, I feel good and ready.

"I did a lot of work on my own to get me into a good place to go back with the team. Since I’ve been with them, I’ve been full training, doing everything. I’m at a place now where I’m ready to go for any game but again, it’s down to the manager."

Earlier on Monday, Pochettino had refused to give away any early team news when discussing the striker's fitness.

He said: "I think Harry Kane is in the last week, Friday and Saturday, start to be involved with the group.

"Very positive the situation with him. We have one week ahead to see how he is progressing.

"It’s so important that he feels well and he’s very positive. We’ll see what happens. I cannot say if he’ll be 100% fit or starting, or on the bench or out.

"But good progression like (Harry) Winks, (Jan) Vertonghen and (Edinson) Sanchez in the same final."
