Tottenham's Harry Kane delivers verdict on racist abuse endured by England stars vs Bulgaria

Harry Kane has urged football to address racism in football, saying 'it needs stamping out for good'.

The Euro 2020 qualifier with Bulgaria was stopped twice in the first half after supporters could be heard chanting racist remarks and booing members of Gareth Southgate's squad.

The contest was on the verge of being abandoned but was played to completion as the England squad decided to carry on playing, subsequently winning the game 6-0.

While such a one-sided victory is undoubtedly good news, it's hard to focus on the score when a much more pressing matter is in need of being addressed.

One player who led by example on a difficult night was Harry Kane.

The Spurs striker was a mature presence on the pitch as he regular communicated with his manager, his teammates and the officials to make sure that the correct course of action was taken.

After the game Kane took to social media to praise his teammates on what was a difficult evening.

He said: "Great performance and I’m proud of the togetherness we showed in some disgraceful circumstances.

"Racism has no place in society or football. It needs stamping out for good.

"Also a massive congrats to Tyrone Mings on a great debut."
