Tottenham's four-man manager shortlist if Jose Mourinho is sacked

The pressure is increasing on Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho suffered back-to-back home defeat for the first time in his managerial career as Spurs followed up defeat to Liverpool with a reverse against big rivals Chelsea on Thursday night.

Not only was it back-to-back defeats at home, it was Spurs third loss in a row, including the 1-0 defeat away at Brighton sandwiched between the two home losses.

Those results have left Spurs eighth in the Premier League table, with Aston Villa just a point behind with a game in hand, and Mourinho's side now trail the top four places by seven points - though they do have a game in hand on Liverpool, Leicester and Manchester United.

Transfer update: How does January spending compare to previous seasons?

The football Spurs have produced in recent weeks has left a lot to be desired, with the team looking a shadow of their former selves in an attacking sense.

Harry Kane is a big miss, obviously, but the tactics of Mourinho have been called into question.

Some supporters are already calling for his head, despite the team challenging for honours in the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League still this season.

After last night's defeat, Mourinho's odds on being sacked were slashed to 5/2 with many some bookmakers, and he is now the second favourite to be the next manager to lose his job, behind Newcastle's Steve Bruce.

And according to Betfair, there is a four-man managerial shortlist to replace Mourinho if he gets the boot.

Leicester boss Brendand Rodgers is the 2/1 favourite to replace him at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, although the Foxes would be reluctant to lose their man. A hefty payout would be required to steal him away from the King Power Stadium.

RB Leipzig's popular manager Julian Nagelsmann is next on the list at 4/1 and he would bring a progressive attacking approach to north London.

Rafael Benitez is 7/1 third favourite, with former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri at 9/1.

Anyone else in the running is 10/1 or higher, with Eddie Howe (10/1), Scott Parker (12/1) and even Mauricio Pochettino (16/1) on the list.
