Tottenham's former head of academy John McDermott makes early start to FA role

Tottenham's former head of academy, John McDermott, has made an early start to his new role as assistant technical director at the FA.

McDermott was due to start his new job next month, but has already begun his work at the governing body during lockdown.

The highly respected coach will dedicate most of his time to England’s development teams up to Under-20 level, while also assisting Under-21s boss Aidy Boothroyd and Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate when required.

Danny Rose said of McDermott recently: "People will notice a bit more now with John McDermott going to the national team, he was the head of the academy set-up, and with him once he's seen you're good enough, he wants you out there.

"He's a northerner as well, he's from Yorkshire, and I connected with him really well. He was a big help to me and a lot of players who came through Spurs in the past ten years. There has been a lot.
