Tottenham's Danny Rose so sick of football racism he can't wait to retire

Danny Rose has revealed he is looking forward to giving up football, with the game unable to protect its black players .

The Tottenham and England defender has become the latest high-profile player to express a devastating vote of no confidence in a crushing week for the sport.

Full-back Rose , who turns 29 this summer, told Mirror Sport: “I’ve had enough. At the minute, the way that I programme myself I just think, ‘I’ve got five or six more years left in football and I just can’t wait to see the back of it.’

“Seeing how things are done in the game at the minute, it’s just, ‘Whatever!’, isn’t it?

“I just want to get out of it.”

The Premier League are in talks with the FA and the Football League to devise a plan to combat racism in the English game — but the talks do NOT contain the scope for docking points, leaving players and supporters with little faith that the problem will be solved in this country.

A string of clubs, by contrast, have been docked points for breaching financial regulations.

Players in this country are now prepared to leave the pitch if they are racially abused.

Admitting his own thoughts are a sad indictment of the shambolic state football is in, Rose added: “That’s how I feel.

“I feel I‘ve for five or six more years left and I just want to enjoy football as much as I can. There is so much politics and whatever in football and I just can’t wait to see the back of it, to be honest.”

Rose, Manchester City's Raheem Sterling and Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi endured monkey chanting from a section of Montenegro fans during a European Championship qualifier last week.
