Tottenham's conflicting stance on Harry Kane as Nuno Espirito Santo makes Wolves decision

Harry Kane and Tangy Ndombele both want a move away from Tottenham, but the club have dealt with each player's situation in a very different manner.

The England captain has dominated the headlines this summer as he asked chairman Daniel Levy to leave his boyhood club with Manchester City emerging as a potential landing spot.

French midfielder Ndombele is another player looking for an exit before the August 31 deadline as he expressed his wish to seek a new challenge.

But how Spurs have handled each player's future has been a complete contrast.

Kane missed the first two games of Nuno Espirito Santo's tenure after a controversial extended holiday which came amid intense interest from City.

But he has been integrated back into the squad as he returned to the bench for Tottenham's trip to Wolves on Sunday as the north London club have made it clear they want to keep their talisman despite his stance to leave the club.

Ndombele, on the other hand, has yet to be included in a matchday squad since Nuno took charge with reports he was offered to Bayern Munich in a swap deal for Corentin Tolisso last week.

And the Spurs manager insists it's not "his job to convince players to play for the club" as he confirmed that Ndombele would not be involved in Sunday's visit to Wolves.

He said: "What happened in the past I can’t even think about and I don’t mention it out of respect.

"What I can tell you is that Tanguy is with us, he works but we have to speak honestly. And to take the best out of Tanguy, it has to come from himself. It has to come from himself. I don’t want to go much farther than that but it has to come from himself.

“First of all I must speak to Tanguy before even addressing you.

“We already had a chance to talk but it must come from himself. I said it before: my job here is not to convince players to play for Tottenham Hotspur, it is to prepare players to play for Tottenham Hotspur.”

Nuno might not want to persuade players to remain at Spurs, but it seems Kane is the exception to the rule after he was brought back into the fold on Sunday.
