Tottenham's classy gesture after coronavirus postponement of Manchester United game

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they have donated unused food supplies from the postponed Premier League match against Manchester United to charity.

Spurs were due to host the Red Devils on Sunday in what would have been a crucial clash in the race for the Champions League places at the end of the season.

However, an outbreak of coronavirus in the UK, leading the Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi being diagnosed with the virus has led to the Premier League announcing that all fixtures will be suspended until at least April 4th.

Tottenham announced the donation on their official website.

"We are pleased to confirm that we've been able to donate a significant amount of food supplies intended for consumption at Sunday's home Premier League match against Manchester United to The Felix Project, a London-based charity which aims to tackle food waste and hunger in the capital," the statement read.

"According to the charity, 1.5 million adults in London struggle to afford to eat every day, while 400,000 children are at risk of missing the next meal.

"Following the postponement of the professional game in England and the resulting cancellation of Sunday's fixture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium owing to the outbreak of COVID-19, we have delivered over 1,200 items of produce to the Felix Project to distribute to local good causes."

The donation includes items such as milk, fruit bags and pasta among many other items.

It is unknown when games will resume in the Premier League with a possibility that the April 4th return could be pushed back again.
