Tottenham Hotspur have launched a late bid to hijack Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's move to Everton.
Spurs are long-time admirers of the Southampton midfielder, who was stripped of the Saints captaincy due to concerns over his future, with his contract set to expire next summer.
The Southern Daily Echo report that Southampton have accepted a £25m bid for the Dane from Everton.
Hojbjerg, 24, has travelled to the Toffees' training ground and agreed terms over a potential move to Goodison Park.
Yet the Telegraph's Jeremy Wilson has reported that Spurs have now also entered the bidding for the player as they look to tempt him to North London instead.
Spurs will have to match or better Everton's offer for the player in order to get the Saints to agree a deal, or they will sell him to the Toffees instead.
Everton entered their first bid for Hojbjerg last night but, at £18m it was turned down.
The Toffees returned with an increased off for the player today and met Southampton's £25m valuation of him.
Spurs have reportedly been warned that they will not secure Hojbjerg if they do not meet Southampton's asking price.
There had been hopes that Kyle Walker-Peters could be used as a makeweight in the deal, with the full-back impressing on loan at St Mary's.
Yet talks have stalled over any potential permanent deal for the England youth international.
Hojbjerg has also been linked with a move to Ajax but, whilst he is said to be interested in Champions League football, it has been reported he would prefer to stay in the Premier League.
