Tottenham receive Harry Kane boost as Manchester City set deadline over potential £150m transfer

Manchester City are reportedly prepared to end their interest in Tottenham’s Harry Kane should they not manage to seal a deal this summer.

The England captain has made his intentions to leave north London clear having missed his return to the club due to an extended holiday.

Kane is now apparently back involved with Nuno Espirito Santo’s group and has been named in Spurs’ 25-man squad for their Europa Conference League playoff against Pacos de Ferreira.

That has not halted the constant rumours however, with Manchester City continuing to be linked with a big-money move in the region of £150m.

Even Pep Guardiola has admitted his interest in the 28-year-old but did concede that if Tottenham are not willing to be open to selling the striker then negotiations simply cannot take place.

Speaking ahead of his side’s opening day defeat to Spurs, the Spaniard said: “He’s a player for Tottenham Hotspur. If Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it’s finished.

“If they are open to negotiate, I think not just Man City but many clubs in the world want to try to sign him – we are not an exception – but it depends on Tottenham.”

The reigning Premier League champions now appear to be sticking to Guardiola’s word.

According to the Daily Mail, City are apparently reluctant to continue their pursuit of Kane beyond the current transfer window, and would not return for his signature next year, when he would have just two years left on his current contract.

Instead, City would instead potentially look to swoop for either Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.

It is said that Manchester City remain determined to sign Kane in the current window which could potentially worry Tottenham, however, the closer the deadline becomes, the less likely a deal looks.

football.london understands that Daniel Levy is not keen on selling Spurs’ star forward, especially with so little time left of the window in which to find a replacement.

Should he stay in north London, it remains to be seen whether Kane will remain set on leaving next summer even with Manchester City reportedly set to cool their interest.
