Tottenham ready to reignite interest for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish

Aston Villa will face a fresh fight to hold onto Jack Grealish this summer.

And that could boost the exciting playmaker’s hopes of impressing England boss Gareth Southgate.

Villa fought off serious interest in Grealish from Tottenham , who came close to striking a £25million deal, last summer and he signed a new five year deal.

But Spurs are set to try their luck again for Grealish in the close season.

And they will be joined in the hunt for the 23 year-old’s signature by West Ham and Bournemouth .

Gareth Southgate names the one thing Jack Grealish must do to get England call-up

Southgate stated Grealish needs to be playing in the Premier League to increase his chances of getting in the England squad.

Grealish represented Ireland at youth level but pledged his allegiance to England in 2015.

He has played for England Under-21s but is yet to make the senior squad with Southgate saying: “Jack worked with us in the Under-21s briefly.

“The difficulty is always that, although we can see the quality, he’s at a different level and it’s hard to directly correlate what that will look like at a level above. With Callum, he’s playing Europa League, he’s playing Premier League, that makes a difference.

“I’m not going to say we won’t pick from the Championship, as that could happen, but it’s far more difficult to assess his level.

“You see certain parts of the game, but not others. Not the physicality at times, nor the tactical discipline.

“That’s at another level in the Premier League, the speed, the pace. So, Jack’s a player we know all about, he’s a player we track.

“But that last bit of evidence, which could give you confidence to pick him, we haven’t seen.”

Villa are currently sixth in the Championship and in a big battle to secure a play-off place.
