Tottenham prepare to sanction Alderweireld exit as club open talks with Serie A defender

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Saturday, July 3.

Tottenham prepared to sanction Alderweireld exit

Toby Alderweireld is hopeful of leaving Tottenham this summer and is confident a move can be completed once Euro 2020 reaches its conclusion.

New managing director of football Fabio Paratici is hoping to sign two centre-backs this summer and is unlikely to stand in the Belgian’s way if the club receive an appropriate offer.

That is according to The Athletic, who also report that Alderweireld is subject of interest from his hometown club, Royal Antwerp as well as clubs in Italy and Spain.

Tottenham open talks with Serie A right-back

Tottenham have begun negotiations with Bologna over bringing 22-year-old defender Takehiro Tomiyasu to the club this summer.

The skilful Japan international has mostly played at right-back for the Serie A side in recent seasons or on the right side of a back three.

He is strong on and off the ball, comfortable with both feet with a good passing range and has impressed in Italy since arriving in 2019.

football.london understands that Spurs' plan for Tomiyasu is to tuck inside to create a back three whilst in possession to allow Sergio Reguilon to bomb forward on the left as more of a wing-back to create a devastating left-hand side with Son Heung-min.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s role in Harry Kane transfer

Tottenham’s new boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been assured that the club will not sell prize asset Harry Kane without his blessing.

The England captain has been on international duty at the European Championships this summer and speculation about his future has continued throughout the competition.

football.london understands that Spurs’ stance has always been that Kane is not for sale this summer despite the 27-year-old’s growing frustration that the club weren’t competing for the top trophies in football.

Now, according to reports, Espirito Santo has been told by the club’s hierarchy that Spurs’ star man will not be sold unless the Portuguese believes he can improve the current squad with any incoming fee.
