Tottenham predicted team vs Leicester: Players miss trip to final match but Joe Rodon travels

Ryan Mason will have to make changes to his Tottenham team for their must-win match against Leicester City on Sunday in the final day of the Premier League season.

The 29-year-old interim head coach will be without Japhet Tanganga after the defender damaged ankle ligaments late on in the midweek defeat against Aston Villa.

Mason is also without Ben Davies and football.london understands that a couple of other players carrying knocks may be out of contention to make the trip to the King Power Stadium.

Joe Rodon is expected to be part of the squad travelling to Leicester having missed out on every other Premier League matchday squad under Mason despite the 23-year-old having started Jose Mourinho's final four matches in the competition.

Spurs could finish sixth if they can win on Sunday and West Ham lose at home against Southampton, but if Tottenham lose then they could finish as low as ninth and even be overhauled by their local rivals Arsenal.

Mason cannot afford another poor performance like the one against Villa as Spurs travel to a Foxes team who also need to win and hope other slip up in their pursuit of a top four spot.

Matt Doherty came on for the injured Tanganga late on on Wednesday night and the interim head coach will have to decide whether the Irishman gets the nod or Serge Aurier comes back into the side.

Without the more defensive Tanganga at right-back, it makes it more of a risk to pick Gareth Bale in the team to face the Foxes.

The Welshman has his own issues though as he was unable to start on Wednesday night because of a quad muscle injury and that could prevent him from starting again on Sunday.

It would be harsh to drop Steven Bergwijn, who not only scored an eye-catching goal on Wednesday night but was Spurs' brightest attacking player. His work rate in the role could also help the right-back in dealing with Leicester's own attacks down the flank.

On the other side, Sergio Reguilon had a nightmare in midweek but with Ben Davies out injured he's likely to keep his spot.

Harry Winks struggled against Villa and Giovani Lo Celso could find himself back in the team, with Mason not seeming to trust Tanguy Ndombele.

Here is the Tottenham team we reckon Mason could pick:

4-2-3-1: Lloris; Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Lo Celso, Hojbjerg; Bergwijn, Dele, Son; Kane.
