Tottenham police crash: Man charged with attempted murder after armed officer hit by car in White Hart Lane

A man will appear in court today charged with attempted murder after an armed police officer was hit by a car in White Hart Lane, Tottenham.

Aydin Alytun, 25, of Tottenham, is also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He is scheduled to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court later today.

On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police said an officer had been struck by a car in White Hart Lane after an armed stop.

The vehicle stopped for police, but then drove at speed towards the officer, who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

Altun was one of six people arrested over the incident.

Four males - two aged 17, one aged 18 and one aged 19 - were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and have been released on bail.

A woman, aged 23, was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and was also released on bail.
