Tottenham players return to training as Premier League targets June return

Tottenham Hotspur are the latest Premier League club to allow players to return to the training ground, with football’s senior officials increasingly confident over a mid-June return.

Arsenal and West Ham have also both welcomed players back to training while still respecting social distancing rules, in order to allay fitness concerns ahead of any resumption.

Spurs said select players will take part in individual sessions on separate pitches at their Enfield Training Centre, with no access permitted to any buildings.

“From tomorrow, the club shall be making a limited number of pitches available at our training centre for members of our first team squad to use for individual running sessions on a strict rotational basis,” the club said.

“No more than one player per pitch will be permitted at any one time to undertake on-pitch exercise, with only a restricted number of the squad coming to the training centre each day.

“Each player will travel independently and arrive at the facilities already dressed in training wear before returning home immediately after they have concluded their session.”

The club came under scrutiny earlier this month after manager Jose Mourinho organised a training session with record signing Tanguy Ndombele.

Spurs were eighth in the Premier League standings with 41 points when play was suspended last month.
