Tottenham player ratings vs Wolves: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in control as Dele Alli shines

Tottenham scored either side of half-time in a comfortable 2-0 win over Wolves to advance their Europa League hopes.

After striking the post, Harry Kane opened the scoring in first-half stoppage-time with a cool finish, taking him one ahead of Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot before Liverpool play later in the day.

Kane and Dele Alli hit the woodwork again before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg finished from close range to clinch the points in the final game without any fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Dan Kilpatrick was there to run the rule over the Spurs players...

Hugo Lloris 7

With Wolves on the beach, the goalkeeper barely had a serious save to make. One communication error with Toby Alderweireld almost caused problems.

Japhet Tanganga 7

A solid showing from the youngster, despite a late booking for a clumsy shove. Got forward a couple of times and showed his threat at set-piece by heading over.

Toby Alderweireld 7

Enjoyed a relatively comfortable afternoon, barring a couple of menacing counter-attacks by Adama Traore in the first half.

Eric Dier 6

Looked uneasy when faced with Traore and lost Morgan Gibbs-White in the build-up to Wolves’ best chance, a shot sent wide by Fabio Silva. His distribution from the back was inconsistent.

Sergio Reguilon 8

Excellent in the build-up to Hojbjerg’s goal, robbing Ki-Jana Hoever on the touchline to keep the move alive. Also forced Rui Patricio into a smart save in a good attacking display.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 9

Created Kane’s goal with an excellent pass and was really sharp to double Spurs’ lead. Probably his most influential performance for the club from an attacking point of view and impressive defensively too, repeatedly winning back possession.

Giovani Lo Celso 8

Also proved an adept ball-winner, especially in the first half, and created chances, including with a simple pass for Reguilon.

Gareth Bale 7

Produced regular flashes of quality, including the saved effort which led to Hojbjerg’s goal but drifted in and out of the game.

Dele Alli 8

Showed his class with an expertly delayed pass to set up a chance for Harry Kane and a gorgeous nutmeg on Leandro Dendoncker. Still looks short of rhythm and struck the post when he should have scored.

PA

Heung-min Son 6

Forced a save from Patricio and involved in the build-up to the second goal but largely quiet.

Harry Kane 8

No longer playing with the same intensity as earlier in the season – thinking of the Euros? – but still has the quality to make the difference. Struck the post twice and had an effort cleared off the line.

Substitutes

Harry Winks (Lo Celso 69’) 7

Started a couple of counter-attacks in a 20-minute cameo.

Tanguy Ndombele (Dele 81’) 6

Continues to be left out of the starting line-up by Ryan Mason but handed another late appearance.

Moussa Sissoko (Bale 89’) N/A
