Tottenham player ratings vs Newcastle: Lucas Moura excellent as Harry Kane hits double in win

Hugo Lloris

Newcastle had a number of openings throughout the game but the World Cup winner wasn't really called into action in either half. Could do nothing about Matt Ritchie's strike as it arrowed into the far corner. 5

Serge Aurier

Made himself available despite the death of his younger brother on Monday when some may have missed out completely. Professional performance down the right but unfortunately was at fault for Newcastle's goal as he cleared the ball straight to Ritchie. Got forward often and put a couple of good balls into the box. 6

Newcastle v Spurs: Jose Mourinho press conference

Toby Alderweireld

Operating on the left of the two centre-backs and was kept busy in the first half with Newcastle pushing on. Remained strong after the break as Steve Bruce's men looked to find the net. 7

Davinson Sanchez

Under pressure in the first half with the hosts threatening on a number of occasions. Good foot to deny Joelinton in the closing stages. 7

Ben Davies

Good run forward in the first half but couldn't get his shot away on goal. Busy at times with the Magpies pushing on and causing problems. 6

Harry Winks

Kept the ball ticking over in the middle throughout the game. Had problems in the first half with Newcastle cutting through the middle a couple of times. 6

Moussa Sissoko

Some good runs from the midfielder on a few occasions but they unfortunately didn't come to anything for Spurs. Steady shift in the middle. 7

Giovani Lo Celso

Created Son Heung-min's opener after holding the ball up well on the edge of the area and finding his teammate. Showed how much of an influence he can have an in the final third and Spurs need him to do more of that. Was substituted off just past the hour mark. 7

Lucas Moura

Buzzed about in the opening stages and looked bright down the right side. Played a big role in the opener after winning the ball back with a great tackle. Really caught the eye with some impressive runs in an energetic display. Was substituted just before the hour mark moments after going down with a knock. 8

Son Heung-min

Was back on the left after playing alongside Harry Kane in the north London derby and quiet early on. However, took his chance when it mattered midway through the first half with a low finish. Extra mark for his goal but was a quiet evening for the South Korean. 7

Harry Kane

No clear chances for the player early on but played a part in Son's strike as he found Lo Celso. Finally got his name on the scoresheet with a brilliant header from Steven Bergwijn's cross, before then nodding home again in stoppage time from point-blank range. Worked hard for his side over the 90 minutes. 8

Substitutes

Steven Bergwijn (Lucas Moura, 57)

On a matter of minutes and made an immediate impact with a stunning cross for Kane to head home. 7

Erik Lamela (Giovani Lo Celso, 61)

Replaced his fellow countryman and put himself about as usual. Big role in Kane's second goal of the evening with a brilliant run into the box.. 7

Jan Vertonghen (Harry Kane, 90)

On for the final few minutes to see out the game. N/A
