Tottenham player ratings vs Manchester City: Perisic shocker after Kulusevski and Emerson goals

Hugo Lloris

A tale of two halves for the Spurs captain. Made a terrific first half save to tip away Lewis' deflected low shot and denied Haaland soon after. Flapped at a cross towards the Norwegian moments later and then couldn't get enough on the ball during a scramble in the box before City's first goal. He couldn't do much about City's second but was then beaten far too easily at his near post by Mahrez for the third. Couldn't do much about the City man's second. 4

Cristian Romero

Made a superb sliding tackle on the half hour mark to deny Grealish as he ran through on goal. He was on a yellow card so it had to be inch-perfect. Beaten to the ball across for City's second by Haaland but he was one of Spurs' better defenders. 6

Eric Dier

Made a good flying block to deny Alvarez 21 minutes in. Was all over the place though in the scramble for the second goal and never really looked settled after that. 4

Ben Davies

Launched an excellent cross on the run to pick out Son in the first half. Had a tough time though down the left with Perisic in trying to contain Mahrez. 5

Emerson Royal

Defended well in the first half without being able to advance the ball to much down the right before turning that on its head with Spurs' second goal, following up to head home over Ederson. 7

Rodrigo Bentancur

Back from injury and he made such a difference to Spurs with his pressing and energy. It was his pressing that led to the first goal and his composure and pass, while getting clattered, that set the visitors away for the second. Gave the team 74 minutes after six weeks out. 9

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Worked well in the first half but was left chasing shadows for much of the second half. 6

Ivan Perisic

Given a torrid time by Mahrez all night as the City man beat him easily down the left for all three of the hosts' goals after the break. At the other end he had a big chance to score but his low show was deflected on to the left-hand post. He was taken off not long after City's third. 3

Dejan Kulusevski

The Swede ran for everything and got his reward on 44 minutes when he curled home a loose ball after Bentancur forced a City mistake. Set up Perisic for a big chance in the second half that ended up being deflected on to the post. 7

Harry Kane

Tried to link-up play throughout the game whenever he could get the ball and it was his shot from a tight angle that was pushed towards Emerson to score. 6

Son Heung-min

Sent a first half header at goal that hit Ake on the way which helped Ederson save it. Other than that he contributed very little again. 4

Subs

Ryan Sessegnon

Was better defensively than Perisic and had a few forays forward. 5

Yves Bissouma

Replaced Bentancur for the final 16 minutes and had some bright moments. 6

Richarlison

Worked hard with little end product in the final minutes. 5

Clement Lenglet

A dreadful touch allowed Mahrez to run in behind him and the City man clipped his shot over Lloris and into the net. 3
