Tottenham player ratings vs Dinamo Zagreb: Eric Dier and Serge Aurier endure wretched night as Spurs crash out

Tottenham crashed out of the Europa League with a wretched defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Mislav Orsic’s stunning hat-trick condemned Spurs to a 3-0 defeat on the night after extra-time, as Jose Mourinho’s side blew a 2-0 lead from the first leg to leave the manager under pressure.

Dan Kilpatrick runs the rule over Spurs’ performance in the Croatian capital...

Hugo Lloris 4

Could not be blamed for any of Orsic’s stunning strikes. Footwork was shaky again and occasionally played his side into trouble. Massive save in last seconds.

Serge Aurier 3

Wretched with and without possession all night, and responsible for Dinamo’s first goal after Orsic stepped inside him.

Davinson Sanchez 4

But looked shaky all evening and terrified of Orsic, who ran at him for the winning goal.

Eric Dier 3

Defensively all over the shop and passing was poor. Gave away silly fouls.

Ben Davies 5

Offered no resistance for Dinamo’s second goal which came following a slick move down the Welshman’s flank.

Moussa Sissoko 4

Offered Spurs no control and often gave away possession in dangerous areas with poor passes or through overplaying. Failed to track his runner for the second goal.

Harry Winks 4

Looked frustrated at being hooked but could few complaints after struggling to get going. Passing range was off but wasn’t helped by being paired with the indisciplined Sissoko.

Dele Alli 4

Failed to make any impact in the final third and was largely a spectator before being hooked early.

Erik Lamela 5

Predictably booked. Waited a fraction too long to get a shot away from a great position and saw it blocked.

Lucas Moura 5

Set up a good first-half chance for Kane with a through pass and tried to inject some energy into a flat performance with speedy dribbles.

Harry Kane 6

Finished with Spurs’ best chances and was unlucky to have two shots cleared off the line as well as seeing other efforts saved.

Substitutes:

Gareth Bale (Lamela 59’) 6

Provided a few sparks, including a cross for Kane’s chance which was cleared off the line.

Lo Celso (Dele 67’) 6

Made a difference on his return from injury, adding fight and a bit of quality.

Tanguy Ndombele (Winks 67’) 5

Tried to inject a spark but often sloppy.

Vinicius (Lucas 85’) 5

Had a couple of half-chances but fluffed them.

Sergio Reguilon (Davies 90’) 5

Added energy but could not prevent the collapse.

Steven Bergwijn (Aurier 108’) 4

Squandered a good position with a hopeful shot in extra-time.

Subs not used: Hart, Tanganga, Lavinier, Doherty, Alderweireld.
