Tottenham player ratings: Gollini gaffe as Tanganga, Doherty and Lo Celso struggle in semi-final

Pierluigi Gollini

Denied Lukaku early on with a save with his legs as the Belgian ran through. However, he completely missed the ball when coming out for a corner before the 20 minute mark and it bounced off Rudiger's back and into Spurs' net. Pushed away Hudson-Odoi's shot well soon after. Two good saves but one messy mistake which ensured Spurs had even more of a mountain to climb. 5

Japhet Tanganga

Lost Rudiger for the goal to complete a hat-trick of successive matches with key defensive mistakes. Having a real confidence and concentration problem at the moment. 4

Davinson Sanchez

Praised by Conte ahead of the match and the Colombian defended well, even if he can't bring the passing range the central role requires. 7

Ben Davies

Slung in a good cross for Emerson to head at goal just before the hour mark and defended well on the whole. 6

Emerson Royal

Worked hard up and down the right-hand side although still without the final ball. He did send a header at the Chelsea goal which was pushed away by Kepa. 6

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Had a shot deflected just over around the half hour mark, earned what he thought was a penalty but wasn't and did well to win the ball back for Kane's disallowed goal. The better of Spurs' three central midfielders. 6

Harry Winks

An energetic display in the midfield but his passing forward was off, particularly with one ball on to Kane who would have been clear. 5

Giovani Lo Celso

Back to back starts but he did very little in the number 10 position to push Spurs up the pitch and justify his selection. 4

Matt Doherty

On the left again and he has to cut in every time so it renders him utterly predictable. Came off after 65 minutes having made no impact on the game. 4

Lucas Moura

Had a penalty shout which wasn't and set up Kane for his ruled out 'goal'. As usual plenty of running but struggled for quality in the final third. 5

Harry Kane

Tried to hold up the ball and spread the play and at times looked a level about the rest of the attacking Tottenham players as he kept and used the ball well, but his pass to Lucas for the ruled out penalty was overhit. Had the ball in the net himself soon after but he was ruled offside by VAR. Showed some great feet on the touchline in the final moments to set up a late chance for Sessegnon. 6

Subs

Ryan Sessegnon

Came on for Doherty with half an hour to go but wasn't able to add much thrust to Spurs' attacks down the left other than a last-gasp shot in the box that was deflected wide. 5

Bryan Gil

Another enthusiastic cameo from the young Spaniard but he couldn't find a way through. 5

Oliver Skipp

Replaced Winks towards the end of the encounter. N/A
