Tottenham player climbs into stands to confront fan after FA Cup clash

Tottenham star Eric Dier has charged into the stands to confront a fan after an alleged incident involving his younger brother in the Spurs' FA Cup loss to Norwich.

Dier jumped the fence and hopped over several rows at the team's north London stadium after the penalty shootout.

Fans and security swarmed around the Englishman and he was recorded repeatedly saying "He's my brother".

Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho said he appreciated that Dier was defending his brother, but he should not go running into the stands.

"I think Eric Dier did something that we as professionals cannot do but in these circumstances I think every one of us would do," he told reporters.

"Because when somebody insults you and your family is there and your family gets involved with the person that is insulting you, in this case a young brother … I am with the player and I understand the player.

"This person insulted Eric, the family was there, the young brother was not happy with the situation."

The confrontation happened after Spurs and Norwich ended extra time tied at 1-1.

Tottenham lost the penalty shootout 3-2 when Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul stopped the team's fifth spot kick, from the boot of Gedson Fernandes, with Spurs' FA Cup campaign ended by the Premier League's lowest-ranked side.
