Tottenham Hotspur's 2019/2020 Premier League campaign gets underway this evening.
The Lilywhites, who finished fourth last season, welcome newly-promoted Aston Villa to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the day's late kick-off.
And Mauricio Pochettino is looking forward to the test against side which has been very busy in the transfer market this summer.
"Of course in this period, it is important to focus on yourselves, but of course we prepare for our opponent to play Aston Villa, then Manchester City, and then other opponents," he told reporters.
"But we have to try and improve in our concept to improve the dynamic to try to dominate and then improve our defensive game. And we are in that process.
"Of course, Aston Villa have signed a lot of players, they are in the top three or four in the Premier League for how much they have spent, an amazing investment, but always it is not easy.
"Look what happened with Fulham last season and how much they invested. The most important for the coach is to have time to build the team. You invest a lot of money on players, but the most important thing is about making that work together.
"Look at us last season, no one believed in us, we didn’t sign or sell players, and the consequence is one of the best seasons in the club, and you never know. That is the most important example, we didn't sign and we got to the Champions League final. You never know, it is about creating that dynamic that is positive to try and work together in the best way."
The Spurs players were put through their paces at Hotspur Way on Friday afternoon ahead of the 5.30pm kick-off in north London.
Deadline day signings Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon were present at the training ground as was the likes of Lucas Moura, Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Tanguy Ndombele and Troy Parrott.
