Tottenham outcast Giovani Lo Celso to rejoin Villarreal on loan

Tottenham outcast Giovani Lo Celso is set to undergo a medical at Villarreal ahead of rejoining the club on for the rest of the season.

Lo Celso spent the second half of last term on loan at the La Liga club, helping them to reach the Champions League semi-final, and is set to return in a deal which could be cut short in January should Spurs wish.

The Argentine international joined Spurs in a £55million deal from Real Betis in the summer of 2019 and briefly impressed under Jose Mourinho in early 2020.

The 26-year-old, who scored eight goals in his 84 appearances for the club, was deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Antonio Conte in January, and has been training individually since the start of pre-season.

Spurs have made six summer signings but are now prioritising outgoings, with Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks also transfer listed and training alone. Bryan Gil and Pape Matar Sarr could leave on loan before the end of the month, while Japhet Tanganga is available to leave for the right price.
