Tottenham offered viable Harry Kane competitor despite Antonio Conte history with striker

Here is your Spurs morning digest on Saturday, December 4th.

Spurs 'offered' Icardi

According to French outlet Footmercato, Tottenham have been offered a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi by his representatives.

The report claims that the forward is hoping to make a move to a club where he would find more game time, struggling to muscle his way into a side that contains Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Along with Spurs, sides such as Newcastle United, Barcelona and Juventus have all been linked with a move for the 28-year-old.

However, given Conte's history with the striker - whom he sold to PSG while in charge at Inter - it would seem unlikely that he would be interested in a reunion.

Conte's verdict on Kane's goal drought

Antonio Conte believes that goals will come for Tottenham striker Harry Kane, as the England captain currently endures a barren run of goal scoring form.

The 28-year-old has scored just one Premier League goal so far this season, falling behind the standard he set last season when he won the Golden Boot.

Conte said: "I'm sure Harry is going to score many goals. I’m sure he’s going to have a good performance in the same way he had against Brentford against every team we play."

Conte reveals Rodon situation

Tottenham centre-back Joe Rodon has seen little game time since the arrival of head coach Antonio Conte.

Now, the Spurs boss has revealed why Rodon has seen such few minutes on the pitch.

He said: "The first thing that I tried to do – and am doing – is find the right position for every player.

"In every position you have a double player, and in the characteristic, I see Joe [Rodon] behind Eric [Dier] in the central position."
