Tottenham not signing Porto striker Ze Luis as Jose Mourinho chases alternative targets

Tottenham’s proposed deal for Porto striker Ze Luis is off.

Spurs were in talks over a loan move for the 28-year-old Cape Verde international, but he would require a work permit and Jose Mourinho is prioritising other attacking targets.

Mourinho is desperate to sign a striker this month with Harry Kane sidelined and Luis is one of a number of forwards to have been offered to Tottenham.

Spurs are also interested in AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek, while their former player Fernando Llorente has reportedly been offered on loan from Napoli.

Mourinho wants to add at least one forward to his squad after losing Kane to a torn hamstring, which is expected to rule him out until April.

Tottenham completed their first signing under the current boss on Wednesday, with Portuguese international midfielder Gedson Fernandes arriving from Benfica on an 18-month loan deal that can be made permanent for a fee of £43million in the summer of 2021.
