Tottenham next manager latest: Julian Nagelsmann the favourite as new name enters the frame

There is a new favourite to become Tottenham's next permanent manager in Julian Nagelsmann.

Bayern Munich's shock sacking of Nagelsmann and subsequent hiring of Thomas Tuchel in the week means Spurs lost out on one key target but gained a new one.

Standard Sport understands that Tuchel was of interest to Spurs but no talks had taken place with Antonio Conte's expected sacking still to be finalised. But Bayern acted quickly to avoid missing out on their preferred target.

Nagelsmann was a target for Spurs when Jose Mourinho was sacked two years ago, but he soon agreed to join Bayern from RB Leipzig. Should Spurs again fail to appoint him, Ryan Mason remains the man most likely to take up the reigns, at least temporarily.

Fan favourite Mauricio Pochettino completes the three leading candidates. Pochettino was sacked three and a half years ago but is reportedly keen on a reunion.

A new name has also been touted by the bookies in the form of Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, who is impressing plenty after guiding his team to the top of the Eredivisie. He was in the frame for the Leeds job earlier this season before talks broke down.
