Tottenham news: Spurs transfer target to renew Blackburn deal as Premier League squad confirmed

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Thursday, September 15.

Blackburn confident about renewing contract for Spurs target

Blackburn Rovers are hopeful of announcing a fresh contract agreement for academy graduate Ash Phillips. The defender had been linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer, but a deal never materialised.

Now, according to the Lancashire Telegraph, via Football League World, the Championship club are looking to finalise the last few details of a new contract with the player before confirming a deal has been struck.

Spurs Premier League squad confirmed

Tottenham have confirmed their Premier League squad for the 2022/23 campaign. Following a very busy summer in north London with the club making seven signings, all clubs have had to submit a squad list following the closure of the transfer window.

As ever, each squad must contain no more than 17 non-homegrown players and the rest of the squad, up to 25 players, must be homegrown. Tottenham's squad for the first part of this season comprises nine homegrown and 14 non-homegrown players, there are no real shocks, but only 23 of the 25 available spots have been taken up.

This is because players such as Bryan Gil and Pape Matar Sarr can be registered on the separate Under-21 list that clubs also submit and still be eligible to play in the Premier League.

Changes the Premier League are asking Tottenham to make for Leicester clash

Temporary changes will be made for games that are going ahead this weekend - including Tottenham vs Leicester - as tributes to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II continue across Britain.

As per the Independent, The national anthem will be played before all Premier League games this weekend as a show of respect towards Queen Elizabeth II after her passing. Managers will also be encouraged to wear suits and lead their teams out, and there will be a minute's applause at games on the 70 minutes to mark the number of years of the Queen's reign.
