Tottenham news: Player ratings, Giovani Lo Celso praise, Willian Jose transfer, Winks injury

Tottenham Hotspur were back in Premier League action last night as they took on Norwich City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And though it was not a vintage performance, Jose Mourinho's side came away with all three points after beating Daniel Farke's team 2-1.

Goals from Dele Alli and Son Heung-min either side of a penalty from Teemu Pukki secured the all-important win for Spurs, with Gedson Fernandes again coming off the bench for his new team.

With Manchester United also suffering a surprise defeat at home to Burnley, Spurs are now joint-fifth in the Premier League, and six points behind Chelsea in the race for a Champions League place at the end of the season.

Jose Mourinho's predictions were correct

As well as the game, there are also some transfer rumours floating around N17, with just over a week remaining in the January transfer window to complete deals.

So, with that in mind, take a look at the latest news from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the last 24 hours.

Spurs 2-1 Norwich

But at least he got his predictions right!

Lo Celso

Some high praise indeed for Giovani Lo Celso from Jose Mourinho.

"Giovani is improving game-after-game," Mourinho told reporters. "Today he was fantastic in everything. I think he is adapting very well to the league, he can play in various positions, he gives us lots of quality, vision, passing, he is improving his offensive game, he is improving his intensity.

"The only thing that worries me is the new life of English football of playing and playing and playing and in this case he is now playing all the time now because we don't have different solutions.

"Even today when Lamela was out, no wingers so Giovani to the wing. It’s hard but I think it’s good experience for all of us, a good experience for the family."

Willian Jose latest

Real Sociedad have reportedly rejected Spurs’ latest bid for striker Willian Jose.

Journalist Roberto Ramajo (via GSFN) says that Spurs have put in an opening offer worth €25million (£21.2million).

However, the Spanish side are hoping for around €50m (£42.2m) for the 28-year-old, who has a release clause of €70m (£59.1m).

The striker has asked to be left out of all first-team games until his future is resolved.

Gareth Bale transfer update

Gareth Bale's agent has been speaking about his client's future.

But would a move to Spurs be on the cards in January, or even the summer?

Alasdair Gold did a little digging around the subject.

Winks update

Harry Winks looked to pick up a nasty injury in the win over Norwich.

The midfielder limped off following a challenge with Todd Cantwell - but Mourinho was optimistic about his injury problems.

"It is not a crazy one – hopefully weeks and not months," he said when leaving the stadium.

He previously stated in his press conference: "I prefer not to know before I come in here so I come with a normal face.

"I don't want to come in here with a very upset face, so I'm even afraid to ask, but when I leave here I have to ask."
