Tottenham news: Player ratings, Dier's angry reaction after Norwich loss, big Kane injury update

Tottenham Hotspur are out of the FA Cup.

A penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Norwich City means the squad's last chance of winning a piece of silverware rests with the Champions League - a competition they reached the final in last season.

Jan Vertonghen got Spurs off to a flying start against the Canaries, but a mistake from Michel Vorm plus misses from Erik Lamela, Troy Parrott and Gedson Fernandes ensured a miserable fifth round tie for the hosts.

Uefa President confident despite coronavirus threat ahead of Euro 2020

Jose Mourinho's side don't have long to reflect on last night's events as they're back in action on Saturday evening with a tough game against Burnley at Turf Moor.

As ever, football.london will have all the build up to the game as Spurs look to end a run of back-to-back defeats in the Premier League and get their Champions League qualification push back on track.

With that said, here's all the news from around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Player ratings

Despite crashing out of the competition, there were some impressive performers in a Spurs shirt against Norwich City.

Giovani Lo Celso was among those to score high marks.

Although, the same can't be said about Michel Vorm.

But how did the rest of the team fare?

Dier's angry reaction

There were bizarre scenes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the FA Cup fifth round tie against Norwich City.

Midfielder Eric Dier was absolutely fuming.

So much so that sow that he climbed into the stands to remonstrate with a Tottenham supporter immediately after the penalty shootout was concluded.

As uploaded to Twitter by @jselby123 , Dier can be seen being held back by the stewards.

Mourinho press conference transcript

Mourinho faced the media following the Norwich game and the main talking point from his press conference was his defence of Eric Dier.

"I don't think that belongs to the game," Mourinho told reporters. "The game was a fantastic representation of the FA Cup, but I cannot run away from the question.

"I think Eric Dier did what we as professionals cannot do but when someone insults you and your family is involved, especially your young brother.

"This person insulted Eric, the younger brother was not happy with the situation and Eric was not happy.

"We as professionals cannot do what he did."

Kane injury update

Harry Kane has given an update on his potential return from a hamstring injury

The Spurs striker has been out of action since picking up the problem in a game against Southampton on New Year's Day and last week commenced on field rehabilitation.

Whilst not stating exactly when he will back, Kane is hoping to return to action at some point next month thus leaving plenty of time for him to get up to speed ahead of England's Euro 2020 campaign this summer.

"In my head, I am definitely at the Euros," Kane told the Evening Standard. "Unless something pretty drastic happens between now and then, I'll be there.

"I'm still not back training with the first team, but I'm working hard in the gym, I'm getting stronger all the time.

"We're talking a few more weeks, and I'll be playing again. I don't want to make a prediction for which game I might be back, but I am hoping somewhere between the start and the middle of April."
