Tottenham news: Mourinho's transfer priorities, Aurier's importance, Man United target Winks

The transfer window is open and Spurs are struggling for form.

It all points to a busy month of negotiating doesn't it?

Well, perhaps not.

Spurs drew 1-1 with Championship side Middlesbrough in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday, meaning they will have a replay back in N17 in a week's time.

Another game is hardly what they want, but that's what they've got.

All the fallout from that and a look at what's going on so far in the January transfer window is below in our round-up of the biggest news stories from around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Transfer priorities

Jose Mourinho continues to tell the media that he is happy with the squad he has at Tottenham Hotspur.

But performances have suggested otherwise.

Tottenham have won just once in the last five matches in all competitions and the supporters are hoping to see the club sign some new players.

But who could the Portuguese add to his squad, and which positions need strengthening the most?

Alasdair Gold takes a look.

Levy demand

If their performances on the pitch are any indication, Tottenham need new signings.

Mourinho knew what he was getting into when he arrived as Mauricio Pochettino's replacement, but now he will look to chairman Daniel Levy to supply him with new signings.

Or perhaps not, given what he has been saying in the media.

He should be making demands of his chairman though.

Here's what he should ask of the chairman.

Aurier's role

Serge Aurier is not exactly the most popular player at Tottenham.

The right-back is often caught out of position and makes questionable decisions.

But with Kieran Trippier sold to Atletico Madrid in the summer and neither Kyle Walker-Peters nor Juan Foyth trusted at right-back, the Ivorian keeps getting game time.

And he does pop up with an assist or two every now and then, as shown by the equaliser against Middlesbrough on Sunday.

He obviously has an important role under Mourinho.

Winks transfer

Harry Winks has found first team opportunities a bit harder to come by under Jose Mourinho.

The young England man, entrusted in the heart of midfield by Mauricio Pochettino, has only started two Premier League games since Mourinho arrived at the club.

With his position in the starting XI under threat, reports have emerged linking him with a move away from the club.

Manchesters United and City are both said to be keeping tabs on his situation at Spurs this month.

Here's the latest on his future.
