Tottenham news: Medical arranged for Spurs target as £61m bid made for midfield star

As Tottenham prepare for their first friendly in Singapore, it starts to dawn how close the Premier League season already.

Of course Spurs have already broken their transfer record this summer but there are still a number of deals rumoured to be under discussion.

With three weeks until the season commences the pressure will be really ramping up on preparations, with Spurs looking to improve upon a term where they reach the Champions League final.

Take a look at the latest news below:

Giovani Lo Celso transfer news

Tottenham have made a £61m (€67.9m) bid for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso as they seek to land the Argentine ahead of Bayern Munich.

It was previously suggested Spurs were put off by his price-tag but  El Transistor  states an offer has been made amid reports of interest from the Bundesliga champions.

That will come as bad news who admitted that he wished to keep the midfielder even though the club were looking close to completing a deal for Nabil Fekir.

"He's a top player just like Lo Celso, the top player in the world," Rubi said of Fekir following his side's defeat to Oporto. "I wish I could have both."

Juventus team news

We already know one name on the Juventus team sheet for the International Champions Cup clash and it's a familiar one. Matthijs de Ligt a former Spurs target, and new signing for Maurizio Sarri will play a part.

Sarri confirmed the news when the defender was yet to even train with his squad.

"So far he hasn’t trained with his teammates," Sarri said, as per Football Italia . "He’ll certainly play part of the game though.

"We need to work to find the identity of our game, because we want to become a team with a strong identity.

"Then we’ll try and ensure that leads us to win.

"We’re behind Tottenham [in terms of pre-season preparations] but tomorrow night I want to see a team with the right mentality.

"Nothing has changed with regards to my approach to training since coming here, I still want to have fun, because I think that allows you to give more.

"The first 70 metres on the pitch has to be what I want but in the last 30 it's up to them."

Ryan Sessegnon transfer news

Reports suggest that Tottenham have made a breakthrough for the left back, which would be welcome news with the uncertainty of Danny Rose's future.

The outlet suggests that a medical has been pencilled in. Things have started to look positive for a transfer after it was spotted Sessegnon 'liked' a post from Nike Soccer's Instagram account showing Harry Kane in Tottenham's new home shirt for the upcoming 2019/20 season.

Not everyone is keen on that move however.

Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol wants to see Jurgen Klopp make a move for the Fulham star.

"Still a teenager," Nicol told ESPN. "Well he [wouldn’t be] starting, he’s pushing.

"He’s there to push and he’s there to make the 11 that start better.

"He’s still a teenager, still has a lot to learn.

"But, what, in two or three years time, he's pushing Robertson or anybody else down that left-hand side."
