Mourinho also had his say on Tanguy Ndombele after the Frenchman did not even make the bench to face Brighton.

According to the Spurs boss the midfielder wasn't exactly injured. Instead, he had indicated that he was not in best shape to take on the Seagulls, which led to the Portuguese leaving him out of the match day squad.

In his post-match press conference, the Tottenham boss made some thinly-veiled comments about the 22-year-old.

"I cannot say he is injured," said Mourinho. "I can say that yesterday he told me he was not feeling in condition to play the game.

"Not based on injuries, based on fears of previous injuries of the season. I cannot say he is injured."

However, after the game Ndombele took part in a training session with the other players who did no feature for Tottenham against Brighton, plus Son Heung-min.

The South Korean has been suspended over his red card challenge against Chelsea before Christmas.

Norwich could be the perfect opponent to give Ndombele an opportunity to start.

Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko will also be suspended from the match against the Canaries due to reaching the limit on yellow cards.

With few options to choose from, Mourinho may have to turn to Tottenham's club record signing.

Harry Kane's secret

The Spurs striker already boasted a formidable record on Boxing Day, even before he put the ball in the back of the net to get Mourinho's side back on track against Brighton.

According to the England international, he owes his strike rate around the festive period to the good old fashioned Christmas dinner.

Speaking after the win over the Seagulls he told Amazon Prime: "I enjoy it.

"The games come thick and fast. I don't know what it is, maybe it's the Christmas spirit or the Christmas dinner that gives me a little boost so I might have to have it more often."
